This CD released a while ago back in 1999. I feel almost like a recognize hearing some of the songs a long time ago. I didn't really mean to find this album, it was sort of an accident that I did. I was browsing through a list of Newsboys songs at a radio station website, and one of the songs on that list was from this CD. I only just recently got into this CD, and it's absolutely amazing. WAY better than I expected. It's a perfect combination of perfect songs. Let me review some of the songs...Come Like You Promise (Artist: Delirious): Good song. Not that this is a bad song, but Delirious can always take a bad song and make it better. I'm not sure I would like this song too much if Delirious had not done it. Otherwise, it's not that bad of a song. Everyone has different opinions on things, and you just might end up liking this song.A Little More (Artist: Jennifer Knapp): Great song. Not to pumped up, but very great. I can't see why anyone wouldn't like this song; Great vocals, great music, great everything. Is there anything Jennifer Knapp does wrong? She always rocks.Never Gonna Let You Go (Artist: Raze): Although this was never on one of Raze's albums, I just have to make it my favorite song of theirs ever. It has more of a techno beat than the other songs on this album, but don't let that drive you away. The vocals are awesome, the sound is awesome, and it is just a great song. Raze never did better. If techno beats drive you a little crazy, try to just imagine this song without it's techno beat. One of the songs off this CD I've known the longest.Hallelujah (Illumination Remix) (Artist: Newsboys): This is another one of the songs off this CD I've known the longest, right next to Never Gonna Let You Go. Before I heard this remix, Hallelujah was always one of my favorite Newsboys songs, and it still is. I like this remix just as much as the original, although it doesn't have quite the same spark as the original. Otherwise, this is a beautiful song, and it's still soothing. I know for sure there's nothing the Newsboys could ever do wrong...well, that only goes for the albums that came out after their first three ;-DIt Is Well With My Soul (Artist: Audio Adrenaline): I've always liked Audio Adrenaline. To me, I think they may have an equal amount of good songs and bad songs. I would have to say, this isn't the best song they've ever done. I'm not sure this is the best song for them. I've always loved this song, but I tend to be picky about the way some people perform it. Rebecca St. James is a perfect example of someone who did it good.Humble Thyself In The Sight Of The Lord (Artist: Luna Halo): I still think it's a bit strange that I have never checked out Luna Halo, although I've always thought of it. This is certainly a slower song on the album, but as I listen to it more and more, I like it better and better. The vocals are great, the tune is great, and so is the musical arrangement. This reminds me now to check out Luna Halo's other stuff.Omega (Psi Phi Remix) (Artist: Rebecca St. James): This is the song off this album I've known the longest, since Rebecca St. James is the one artist I've known the longest. This is not quite as good as the original version, but it's still great. It has a lot more of an electric rock sound. Very good.At Your Feet (Artist: The Waiting): Very great song. Certainly one of the best on this CD. The Waiting is another artist I've never really been interested in checking out, but this song is awesome! Very uplifting and soothing.Psalm 139 (Artist: Sarah Masen): Very, very great song. I'm not usually into songs like these, and I've never really heard of Sarah Masen, but this song is beautiful. Very, very great.Overall, I've really loved this CD. I turned out to love it more than I ever thought I would. It's perfect if your looking for great worship music with a great combination of different styles. Some good songs, some so-so. Jennifer Knapp is great. I like the Newsboys remix, too. Check out the artists and make sure you like most of them. This is a collection of "new" sounding praise songs. Lots of electronic mixing effects on most songs. It works rather well. However, some songs just don't quite come across right (read: It Is Well With My Soul). The studio version of Delirious?' "Come Like You Promise" (previously only available in a live version) saves this CD from a lower rating -- it's absolutely wonderful! Other stand out tracks include "Never Gonna Let You Go", "Omega", "Hallelujah", and "Spirit". Overall, a good CD, and worth purchasing if you're looking for a different sounding praise CD.In a word, AMAZING! I was blown away by all the music on this CD. Only disappoint to me was Audio Adrenaline's rendition of "It is Well with my Soul" but not because it was a bad rendition. I have their album Underdog, and they do a duet with Jennifer Knapp on that one. That sounds a lot better. I loved to hear K Max performing with Sonic Flood... excellent vocals. The real treat for me was to hear Luna Halo. I'm glad to see that some people from the band Reality Check coming out and forming a band. Their debut is excellent. A must have if you like worship music and you march to a different drummer in terms of music.Man, I am tired of "praise songs" that a 5 year old can fully comprehend. But this is different. Taking traditional hymns, new songs, and real "pop" music, this is a refreshing change. Chasing Furies' song is incredible, as well a Rebecca St. James remix (THAT is the kid who sang "Side by Side"????) The only thing that kind of falls is Audio Adrenaline rendition of the classic "It is well with my soul." Finally, something that doesn't sound like the rest of contemporary worship! |
